How is it that people think South Korea is very poor and a 3rd world country?

I am amazed how people can not distinguish between North and South Korea. The two are totally different countries. I'm American and I take business trips to Taiwan, South Korea and Japan, all the time. South Korea and Japan are one of the most advanced technology in the world, South Korea is the world's digital capital. You mean North Korea?

Only ignorance. I think some TV channels such as travel and living discovery or compulsory National Geographic should have asked me (seriously) the following questions: – is Hong Kong, Japan? – In his hometown (Milan, Italy), at home, you have to kind of large box to keep food cool bar called? – How can survive in China, eating only the nests of birds and rice? (well, when I'm bored to go to a French or Italian restaurant in Nice. Or even a supermarket Carrefour-French-and I bought spaghetti) South Korea has the level of development of any European country and Seoul is a city much more "hot", modern and many services peoples of the west
