What is batik? I can make this statement that while many people know or have heard of this word, especially here in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia, but many people do, or rather, have a bad misconception batik itself.

In my conversations with friends and the general public, many people been confused with batik design batik / batik designs or batik cloth.

The story has to batik is an ancient craft that dates back centuries. Batik is actually a hand drawn and hand-painted technique, which uses wax.

The wax is a form of Â'resist method ', and purpose of this method is that when the color is placed in a certain place in the fabric, that does not run to the other party. Take an example – is an artist who will draw a floral and want eg blue background. the motif of a flower (a yellow flower with a green stem).

Now, imagine that the artist will be on the basis of a piece of cloth white. The first artist to draw the outline of the plea (ie, the flower and stem) with wax. And later, begin to paint, starting with the yellow color of the flower. What the wax is to keep the yellow in place, so that will not run on the green stem. And when greening the side, the same applies, that is green will not come to the flower yellow. Finally, paint the blue background.

And, of course, the artist will be washed later wax cloth, so that the party was covered with wax back to its original color of white cloth. Therefore, the white color scheme for the occasion. And that is all that is the meaning of batik.

As mentioned however above, a lot of people fail batik design batik / batik designs especially if they see a reason for the traditional type or flowers, or patterns in a fabric that has white outline. These may or may not need to come from the technique of Â'batik 'It originates print today.

Furthermore, just because these impressions are the most traditional motifs or patterns, Dona't error that comes from the art form of batik.

In fact, There are modern designs, which are actually from the technique of batik as well. But people do not know that this is because it has the traditional look and feel to it.

So my suggestion that if you appreciate art and batik, in particular, first consider whether the fabric you buy actually comes from the technique batik. And secondly to have an open mind to accept the change of modern times batik need not concern only necessary based on age and patterns.
